The Medal's Divine Origins

The Miraculous Medal originated in Paris, France, in the year 1830, after St. Catherine Labouré experienced an apparition of the Virgin Mary. "God wishes to charge you with a mission," Our Lady said to Catherine.

In a later apparition, Catherine reported that Mary came framed in an oval and standing upon a globe. Rays of light shone from her hands. Around the edge of the oval, these words appeared: O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

The Oval Shape with Fancy Baroque Style Edge with Hand Engraved Highlights is Adorned with finely detailed Blessed Mother Mary with rays coming out of her extended hands.The Reverse Side of the Medal Portrays an "M" with a Cross on the top and the "Sacred Hearts" underneath surrounded by Twelve Stars.

The design of this medal was hand-sculpted by master artisans in the early 1900's. The medal is made by Die Striking high-grade Sterling Silver stock.
