This small Miraculous Medal sets the Virgin inside a frame of lilies. She stands at the center with her arms lowered and open and a nimbus at her head, and sprays of lily blossom are applied at the crown of the frame, at both sides and again at the foot, so the whole piece is bordered in flowers. The other face carries the cross and bar above the letter M, twelve stars scattered around it, and two small hearts below.
The prayer runs the border in English: O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. The design came from what Catherine Labouré was shown in Paris in 1830, the open hands pouring out rays that Our Lady told her were graces given to those who ask. The lily is Mary's own flower and the old sign of her purity, which is why it was chosen to frame this medal rather than a plain rim.
This Miraculous Medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
