The Vintage Yellow Bronze Sacred Heart Cross with Rays holds the Sacred Heart at its crossing, flames rising from the top of the heart and drops falling beneath it, the whole set against a sunburst cut in fine close rays. A small fleur-de-lis sits on the upper and lower arms, while the two side arms are pierced open in a scrolled outline that lets the light through.
The image joins two devotions that belong together, the cross of the Passion and the heart that endured it. Devotion to the Sacred Heart asks for love returned for love, and the rays spreading from the burning heart out to the four arms carry that love to the ends of the world. There is no lettering anywhere on the piece. Everything it has to say is said by the heart at the center and the light around it, and it reads clearly despite its small size.
