The Vintage White Bronze Saint Teresa of Avila Rosary Center shows the saint half-length in a veil and heavy habit, turned to one side, an open book laid at her left and a smaller form at her right. The ground behind her is granulated and rough, worked so that the smooth planes of the habit read all the more clearly against it, and three loops are cast into the frame for the strands and pendant of a full rosary.
Around the upper rim runs the Latin legend SANCTA TERESA, Saint Teresa. Teresa of Ávila carried the reform of the Carmelites across sixteenth-century Spain, founding house after house on foot and on very little money, and wrote about prayer — above all in the Interior Castle — with a plainness that has kept her in print for four hundred years. The rough field and heavy hand-cut lettering mark the antique original as Spanish work.
This rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
