The Vintage White Bronze Joan of Arc Medal is the largest and most fully worked piece of its group. Joan stands in plate armour with her banner staff raised in her right hand and her left resting on a block, a helmet and shield laid down at her feet and a Gothic interior receding behind her. A blackletter legend curves around the rim and names her Jehanne d'Arc, in the old French spelling she would have known.
The reverse carries her arms, an upright sword between two fleurs-de-lis beneath a crown, set on a shield within a laurel spray and ringed by DOMREMY ORLEANS ROUEN with the dates 1412-1431. Those are the three places and the nineteen years of her life: the village where she was born, the city where she broke the siege, and the square where she died. She was canonized in 1920 and is a patron of France and of soldiers.
