The Vintage Bronze St. Andrew Medal is small enough to disappear in the hand. The old bearded apostle stands in the field with an open book held against his body and the great X-shaped cross steadied with his other hand, its beams crossing behind him and before him, a halo cut in behind his head.
The lettering reads SANCTUS ANDREA and ORA PRO NOBIS, Saint Andrew, pray for us. The saltire is his own, the form on which he asked to die, holding himself unworthy of the cross his Master had. The reverse carries a plain Latin cross among reeds with EGLISE St ANDRE lettered beside it, the church of Saint Andrew, which marks this as a French parish medal brought home from a patronal feast. Andrew was the first of the Apostles to be called, and he is patron of fishermen, of Scotland, of Greece and of Russia.
The medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
