The Vintage Bronze St. Andrew and Our Lady of the Girdle Medal carries a full scene on each of its oval faces. One shows the martyrdom of the Apostle, a standing figure with both arms lifted between two smaller figures who strike at him, named below S. ANDREA APOS. The other shows a crowned Madonna holding the crowned Christ Child, her robe falling in the stiff cone of a dressed and vested statue.
The legend on Andrew's side reads Io non mi glorierò altro che nella Croce, I will glory in nothing but the Cross, the words of St. Paul that the Church has long given to the Apostle who died on one. The Marian side makes a promise: Chi porterà la mia cintura avrà la mia predilezione, whoever wears my cincture shall have my special love. That is the voice of the Italian devotion to the Madonna della Cintura, Our Lady of the Girdle.
The medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
