The Vintage Bronze Sacred Heart of Jesus Arched Center is built like a small chapel window. An arch rises across the top of the panel, long sprays of foliage run down each side like columns, and within stands Christ half-length and bearded, a broad nimbus behind the head. His hands come together at the breast over a flaming heart surmounted by a cross, so the gesture of presenting the heart becomes the whole architecture of the design.
The Gothic arch and the flanking foliage place the antique original in the revival years of the later nineteenth century, when devotional metalwork borrowed freely from church building. The effect is deliberate: what is carried is a shrine rather than a portrait, and the figure inside stands where a saint would stand in stone above a door. The heart he holds out, crowned by the cross, is the devotion in a single gesture, love shown and love proved.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
