The Sacred Heart and Madonna rosary center puts the Son on one face and his Mother on the other. The first shows Christ at the centre of a foliate scrolled frame, his hand raised at his breast above the flaming heart. The second shows a crowned woman holding a crowned child, the two of them standing in a wide burst of rays with a row of small stars arching over their heads.
Centers like this were made so a rosary would carry both devotions at once, whichever way it turned in the hand. The Sacred Heart is Christ's love shown as plainly as an image can show it, a heart opened and burning; the crowned Virgin with her crowned Child is the answer to it, the mother who gave him the flesh that heart beats in. Between them they hold the two halves of the rosary's own subject, and the hand meets one or the other at every round.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the piece's vintage character.
