The Vintage Bronze Radiant Halo Crucifix is named for its halo: a fan of rays cast directly into the cross behind the head of Christ, spreading like a scallop shell so the head rests in its own pool of light. The four arms widen into terminals filled with scrolled leaf relief, a crested finial rises above, and the long foot flares out with a raised boss and a scrolled panel.
No lettering appears anywhere on the cross, and none is needed, because the rayed halo carries the whole meaning. It shows the Crucifixion as the Church has always read it, not as a defeat but as the hour of glory, the light already breaking out of the darkest moment of the Passion. The deep undercutting takes the antiqued finish beautifully, so the ornament reads clearly at arm's length while the figure stays the center of it.
