The Protectress of the Home plaque is shield-shaped, and one face is given entirely to its words. La Protectora del Hogar, the Protectress of the Home, is set in three lines above an open panel meant to take a family name, with heavy drapery falling below and Buenos Aires at the foot.
The other face carries the figure those words name. A winged guardian with a rayed halo spreads great wings across the whole field, one hand lifted, while two smaller figures shelter beneath the wing at the lower right. Plaques like this hung inside the door of an Argentine house rather than at the neck, a guardian set over the household and its comings and goings, with the panel left blank for the family to fill in themselves.
The Protectress of the Home plaque was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
