The Vintage Bronze Our Lady of Mount Carmel Scapular Center is figured on both faces. The front carries a crowned Madonna holding the crowned Christ Child, both haloed, inside a full burst of straight rays that reaches the rim. The reverse shows a haloed, bearded bust of Christ with his hand raised in blessing and his heart on his breast, with scrollwork closing the field beneath him.
That pairing is the classic scapular pattern worn by those enrolled in the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel: her image on one side, the Sacred Heart of her Son on the other. The medal was permitted in place of the cloth scapular for those who could not easily wear it, and the same promise of her protection came with it. Neither face is lettered, and the modelling is unusually fine for a piece three quarters of an inch across.
This scapular center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
