The Vintage Bronze Miraculous Madonna Shrine Rosary Center is cast as a small piece of architecture: an arched canopy carried on two columns, with a standing veiled figure sheltering beneath it. Her arms are lowered and held open at her sides, the stance in which Our Lady of Grace appears on the Miraculous Medal, and the little shrine around her turns the center into a niche a few millimetres deep.
That open-handed pose is the heart of the image given at the Rue du Bac in Paris in 1830, where the Virgin was seen with rays streaming from her hands, the graces, she said, of those who ask for them. Centers built as canopies were a common conceit in older rosaries, giving the join of the beads the shape of a chapel itself, so the prayers come round to a doorway each time. This one is modest in size and heavily cast, meant to be handled.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
