The Mater Dei Rosary Center sets a round medallion of the Virgin and Child between two full three-leaved shamrocks, each on its own stem and veined with the same care given to the figures. Mary bends her veiled head against the Child's cheek and he reaches up to her, an old and unfussy picture of the tenderness between them.
Around the rim runs the Latin MATER DEI ORA PRO NOBIS, Mother of God, pray for us, one of the oldest petitions in the Church and the one the rosary repeats through every decade. The shamrocks mark this out as an Irish piece, where the three leaves on a single stem have stood for the Trinity since Patrick preached with one in his hand. The reverse of the medallion is left plain, with a band of fine texture across the top.
The Mater Dei rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
