Product Details

On the Vintage Bronze Joan of Arc Medal, Domremy to Rouen, Joan is shown as a bust in profile, her hair loose over a breastplate, a lance standing upright beside her and an arc curving behind her head. It is a soldier's portrait and a girl's face at once, which is very much how the French medallists handled her. The rim legend names her JEANNE D'ARC.

The reverse is the medal's real gift. Beside a spray of lilies the field is lettered .1412. DOMREMY ORLEANS REIMS ROUEN .1431. Those are the coordinates of an entire life: the village where she was born in 1412, the city she relieved, the cathedral where she stood as the king was crowned, and the town where she was burned at nineteen in 1431. Four names and two dates tell the story without needing a sentence, and few medals of any saint say so much with so little.

The medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.

  • Made in the USA
  • Artisan-cast from an antique original
  • Finished by hand, so every piece is subtly unique.
  • Buy the medal alone, or add an optional chain or cord necklace
  • Add a cord or chain to have it arrive assembled and ready to wear
  • Arrives in a deluxe velour jewelry box
