The Vintage Bronze Joan of Arc Cross of Lorraine is a double-barred cross with a fleur-de-lys raised on every arm and on the foot, and a figure in armour set against the upright, seen in profile beneath a fluted crest. Leafy branches sweep diagonally across the whole cross from the lower left, half covering the lilies as they go.
The emblems are Joan's own. The cross of Lorraine stands for the country she was born into, and the lilies of France for the king she saw crowned at Reims, so the piece names her without a word of lettering. The antique original dates from 1920, the year she was canonised, when France was full of such medals and pins; it was found broken and discarded, and the reproduction keeps the softness of a design that had already been worn out once by somebody who loved it.
The cross was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
