Product Details

The Vintage Bronze Joan of Arc at the Stake is a sober piece. On the front Joan is shown close up, cropped hair, armour still at the shoulder, her hands crossed on her breast and her face lifted, with rising forms around her that read as flame and smoke. Even the edge is left irregular, as though the disc itself had been scorched.

The reverse pulls back to the square at Rouen, where a figure stands bound to a stake on a pile of faggots before a stone wall while soldiers and townspeople press in from the left. St. Joan of Arc was burned there in 1431, asking that a cross be held up where she could see it, and she was canonized in 1920. Among her medals this one is unusual in showing the end rather than the banner and the horse, and it is the stronger for it.

The medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique French original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.

  • Made in the USA
  • Artisan-cast from an antique original
  • Finished by hand, so every piece is subtly unique.
  • Buy the medal alone, or add an optional chain or cord necklace
  • Add a cord or chain to have it arrive assembled and ready to wear
  • Arrives in a deluxe velour jewelry box
