The Vintage Bronze Holy Spirit Dove Rosary Center is an open frame with a dove in flight filling the opening, wings swept wide and the body worked in high relief on the diagonal. Short beaded bars cap the frame above and below, so the piece reads almost like a wrought gate with the bird passing through it.
The dove is the oldest and plainest sign of the Holy Spirit, the form he took over the Jordan at the baptism of Christ and the image the Church has used for him ever since. A center like this sets him at the very turn of the rosary, where the decades meet and the prayer begins again, which is where the old folk centers liked to put him. Nothing is lettered on it; the whole of its meaning is carried by the bird and the frame, and that directness is the charm of the type.
