A plain Latin cross stands in flat relief on the face of this small round medal, with fine rays incised into the ground behind it and running out toward the rim. There is no corpus and no ornament at all; the strength of the design lies in the contrast between the smooth raised cross and the finely scratched light around it.
The reverse is given over entirely to words, lettered in six lines: GOD IS OUR REFUGE AND STRENGTH, A VERY PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE, with the citation PSALM 46:1 beneath. The psalm goes on to say that the earth may be removed and the mountains carried into the sea, and still there is no need to fear. It is a verse people reach for in a hard season, and this is a medal small enough to carry in a pocket where it can be read again when it is needed.
The medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
