Four small five-petalled flowers, one at the end of each arm, give the Vintage Bronze Four Flowers Crucifix its name. They sit inside pierced panels so that the light comes through behind them, the edges of the cross are chased with a fine dotted line that runs the whole way round, and a fifth flower crowns the top above the corpus.
The little scroll above the head is lettered INRI, the Latin abbreviation of Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews, the charge Pilate ordered fixed to the cross and the words the Church has kept above the corpus ever since. The flowers set around them say the other half of it: the cross understood as the tree of life, breaking into bloom because of what happened on it.
The Four Flowers Crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the crucifix's vintage character.
