The Vintage Bronze Crowned Marian Monogram Rosary Center is worked almost entirely as openwork. At its heart an A and an M stand interlaced, with a small cross rising from the middle stroke, set beneath a jewelled crown and flanked by scrolled panels strewn with small flowers.
The interlaced AM is the oldest of the Marian monograms, read either as Ave Maria, the angel's greeting that opens every Hail Mary, or as Auspice Maria, under Mary's protection. The crown above it is the crown of the Queen of Heaven, and the cross rising out of the letters keeps her Son at the center of her name. Because the letters are woven together the piece carries its devotion without a word of legend, which is part of why the design outlasted so many others.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
