The Vintage Bronze Winged Cherub Rosary Center is made of a single winged head. The cherub looks slightly downward, the hair curling around the brow, and the wings spread wide to either side with their tips turning into scrolls. Above the head an arched scroll rises like a small canopy.
Winged heads of this kind stand for the angels who have no errand but adoration, present to God and to nothing else, which makes them good company at the center of a rosary. Everything about the modelling belongs to an older baroque taste: soft cheeks, deep feathering, and ornament that curls back on itself rather than ending square. The antiqued finish gathers in the feathers and the hair and leaves the face bright, so the whole center reads clearly against the beads.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
