The Vintage Bronze Small Maria Rosary Center is the smallest piece in this group and one of the best cut. A veiled bust of the Madonna faces left on a round field, her mantle folded over the shoulder, and the connectors are set directly into the rim so that almost nothing is given over to frame.
Beside the head, cast around the edge, stands the one word that names her: MARIA. Mary, the name the angel used at the Annunciation and the name a rosary repeats fifty times over in the Ave Maria. There is a particular fitness in finding it here, at the point where the hand pauses between decades. Centers of this size were made for finely made rosaries and for children’s beads, where anything larger would overwhelm the strand, and this one keeps that modest, well-proportioned character.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
