The Vintage Bronze Patterned Crucifix with Trefoils is worked all over its surface. Fine combed striations radiate from the crossing along every arm, and each arm ends in a notched fan holding a small trefoil flower. Against that busy ground the corpus is deliberately plain and slender, the head fallen to the right.
The rays are cut into the body of the cross itself rather than set behind it, an old way of showing that the glory belongs to the Crucified and not to anything added around him. The trefoils at the four ends carry the Trinity in the simplest form a metalworker had, three lobes joined on one stem. Crosses in this pattern anchored European rosaries for two centuries, and this one has the weight to steady a full five decades in the hand while staying quiet enough to wear.
The crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
