The Vintage Bronze Our Lady of Guadalupe Rosary Center holds a crowned Virgin and Child beneath a pierced crown of scrolls, her robe spread into the wide stiff triangle a dressed and vested shrine statue takes. The Latin legend S MARIA DE GVADALVPE, Saint Mary of Guadalupe, runs the whole way around her.
That spelling and that silhouette belong to the Spanish Guadalupe of Extremadura, the elder of the two great Guadalupe devotions, whose shrine in the mountains of western Spain drew kings, navigators and pilgrims for centuries before her name crossed the Atlantic. Columbus named an island for her, and the friars carried her devotion into the New World. The reverse gives the haloed bust of a bearded saint in profile, shoulders bare, a quiet companion to the Virgin on the front.
This rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
