The Vintage Bronze Coptic Quatrefoil Rosary Center is a small cross-form piece with four arms ending in clustered granulated points and a raised quatrefoil filling the crossing. Each lobe of the quatrefoil holds a small figure in relief, with a cross at the very center where the four meet.
The arrangement is an ancient one: a cross at the middle with four attendants around it, the shape devotional metal has used for centuries to say that the whole world stands around the Cross. Coptic Christianity, rooted in Egypt since the first century, has kept that pattern longer than most, along with the granulated beadwork that finishes the arms.
