Product Details

The Vintage Bronze St. Kateri Tekakwitha Medal shows her as a young woman with long braided hair and a light covering over her head, holding a plain upright cross in both hands before her. The relief is gentle and the face is given real attention. Around the rim runs KATERI LILY OF THE MOHAWKS, the name she has been known by for three centuries.

The reverse is deliberately bare, its whole surface given over to her full name in two lines of raised block letters: KATERI TEKAKWITHA. Born at Ossernenon in Mohawk country and baptised at twenty, she lived out her few remaining years at Kahnawake and died there in 1680, remembered for a prayerfulness that persisted through illness, loss and the opposition of her own household. She was canonised in 2012 as the first Native American saint, and this medal is a warm way to keep her company.

The St. Kateri Tekakwitha medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.

  • Made in the USA
  • Artisan-cast from an antique original
  • Finished by hand, so every piece is subtly unique.
  • Buy the medal alone, or add an optional chain or cord necklace
  • Add a cord or chain to have it arrive assembled and ready to wear
  • Arrives in a deluxe velour jewelry box
