The St. Joan of Arc with Our Lady of Grace medal gives one face to each. On the front Joan is shown in profile in plate armour, a laurel wreath in her hair and her helmet at her shoulder, holding the staff of a heraldic banner that unfurls behind her. On the reverse the Virgin bends cheek to cheek with the Child inside a rayed halo.
Both legends are French. STE JEANNE D'ARC names the farm girl from Domremy who was leading armies at seventeen, lifted the siege of Orleans, saw the king crowned at Reims, and was burned at Rouen in 1431 at nineteen; she was canonized in 1920 and is a patroness of France. N.D. DE GRACE, Notre-Dame de Grace, is Our Lady of Grace, Mary honoured as the channel through whom grace reaches us. Courage on one side and tenderness on the other, which is a fair account of what the wearer is asking for.
The St. Joan of Arc medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
