The Vintage Bronze St. Peregrine with Sorrowful Mary Medal shows Christ leaning down from the cross in a burst of rays toward a friar kneeling before him, an attendant figure behind. The reverse is the Sorrowful Mother, veiled, her head bowed and her hands crossed at her breast.
The rim is lettered S. PEREGRINUS LAZIOSI, Saint Peregrine Laziosi, the Servite friar of Forlì in Italy. The scene is the moment the devotion rests on: after years of standing at prayer he was to lose a leg to disease, and on the night before the surgery he saw Christ reach down from the cross to touch him. In the morning the wound was gone. He is the saint asked for in cancer and in serious illness, and the Sorrowful Mother on the reverse is the Servite devotion he lived by.
The St. Peregrine medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
