The Vintage Yellow Bronze St Peregrine and Sorrowful Mother Medal carries a great deal on a very small round field. On the front Christ leans down from the cross in a burst of rays toward a friar kneeling before him, and the rim is lettered with his name, S. PEREGRINUS LAZIOSI, Saint Peregrine Laziosi.
That scene is the night Peregrine, a Servite friar of Forlì, was to lose his diseased leg to the surgeon and rose the next morning healed. He is the patron invoked by those facing cancer and serious illness, and his medal is among the first asked for in any household touched by a diagnosis. The reverse turns to the Sorrowful Mother, veiled, her head bowed and her hands crossed at her breast, a fitting companion since Peregrine belonged to the Order of the Servants of Mary.
The St Peregrine medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
