The Vintage Bronze St Joseph of the Oak Rosary Center carries the Holy Family on its front: a man and a veiled woman standing on either side of the Child, an angel flying above them among the branches, and the names JESUS MARIA JOSEPH lettered around the rim. The grouping is warm and domestic, the two adults turned inward toward the child between them.
The reverse gives the reason the medal was made. A spreading oak fills the field with a small statue set on a pedestal in its trunk, ringed by a legend naming S. JOSEPH DU CHENE A VILLEDIEU and a date in August 1856: St Joseph of the Oak at Villedieu. Shrines of that kind, built around a statue placed in a living tree, drew country pilgrimages all through nineteenth-century France, and a center like this one went home in a pocket and onto a rosary. The date belongs to the original.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
