The Vintage Bronze Seven Sorrows Rosary Medal Set is made for building a rosary of the Seven Sorrows, the Servite devotion that walks through the griefs of Our Lady's life one at a time.
One face is lettered MATER DOLOROSA, Mother of Sorrows, the title under which the Church counts those seven griefs, from Simeon's prophecy in the temple to the burial of her Son. Set opposite it is IN CRUCE SALUS, in the Cross is salvation, which is the answer the devotion gives to everything named on the other side. Prayed together the two hold the shape of the whole rosary: the sorrow acknowledged, and the reason it was not wasted. The solid bronze takes an antiqued finish that suits a handmade rosary of dark beads.
The Seven Sorrows medals were faithfully reproduced from antique originals and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves their vintage character.
