The Vintage Bronze Queen of Heaven Medal carries a crowned Virgin on one face, standing in a burst of rays with one hand extended and a French prayer cast in short blocks of text down either side of her. The reverse is given over to a large raised monogram at the center of a ring of twelve stars.
Those twelve stars are the reason the medal bears its name. They come from the Book of Revelation, where John sees a great sign in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars, the vision that Catholic tradition has read as Mary and that gave her the title Queen of Heaven. The French prayer beside her opens MARIE, MA MERE, Mary, my mother, and the whole small disc turns on that pairing: the crowned queen of the Apocalypse addressed in the most familiar words a person has.
The Queen of Heaven medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
