The Vintage Bronze Our Lady of Lourdes Medal with Stars holds a small, very still figure at its center: veiled, hands joined, standing on a low base with short rays rising beneath her and raised stars scattered through the field on either side. Around her an openwork frame of curving stems arches up and meets in a loop at the top, in the whiplash line of Art Nouveau design.
The standing Virgin with joined hands is the form in which Our Lady of Lourdes is shown, following the figure Bernadette described in the grotto at Massabielle, the Lady who asked for prayer, for penance, and for a chapel, and who named herself the Immaculate Conception. At an inch tall this is one of the smaller pieces in the line, scaled for quiet daily wear.
This medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
