The Vintage Bronze Lord of Miracles Crucifix Pendant is built around the whole Calvary group. Christ hangs on a cross cast as rough branches, a small scroll lettered INRI above his head, and two haloed figures stand beneath the arms at either side, a veiled woman and a young man: the Blessed Mother and St. John at the foot of the cross.
The Lord of Miracles is the great devotion of Lima, whose mural of the Crucified between Mary and St. John survived the earthquakes that flattened the city around it and has been carried through the streets each October ever since. This pendant follows Peruvian colonial work in its form, closing at the foot with a turned baluster finial borrowed from silver altar plate. The four letters on the scroll stand for Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews, the charge Pilate ordered fixed above the cross.
The Lord of Miracles pendant was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
