The Vintage Bronze Filigree Lace Rosary Center with Mary is given over almost entirely to lacework. Scrolls, tendrils, small pierced leaves and rows of drilled beading spread to either side like open wings, cut through so thoroughly that the piece is far lighter than its width would have you believe. At the very center, standing clear of the ornament in full relief, is the Blessed Virgin, veiled and mantled, her hands opened at her sides.
The effect is deliberate. The filigree is not so much a frame around her as a light she stands in, the same rays of grace that fall from her open hands in the Miraculous Medal, here spun out into metal lace. Nothing on the piece is lettered, and it needs no words. The handwork keeps its slight irregularities in the casting, so no two come out quite alike.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
