The Vintage Bronze Mary with Many Flowers Medal sets the Virgin in a garden of cast metal. She stands in a round central field with her arms lowered and her hands turned outward, rays falling from them, flowers rising about her feet. That field is held in a pierced frame of five-petalled blossoms alternating with curling crescent scrolls, so the flowers of the ground and the flowers of the border meet all the way around.
The open hands and the falling rays are Mary as the giver of grace, her palms turned out to pass on whatever has been given to her. Flowers have belonged to her imagery since the earliest Marian hymns, the rose, the lily and the enclosed garden, and a frame worked in blossom says at a glance what the litanies say at greater length. At an inch across, the medal reads clearly at arm's length.
