The Vintage Bronze Way of the Cross Medal carries the whole Stations of the Cross across its two faces. The front is dominated by the crowned Madonna of Czestochowa with the Child on her arm, and set into the field around her are seven small numbered scenes, stations I through VII, each worked into a roundel no wider than a grain of rice. Beneath her runs POD TWOJĄ OBRONĘ UCIEKAMY SIĘ.
Those words open the oldest Marian prayer in the Church, known in Latin as the Sub tuum praesidium: we fly to your protection. The reverse is lettered STACJE MĘKI PAŃSKIEJ NA JASNEJ GÓRZE, stations of the Lord's Passion at Jasna Gora, and shows the monastery itself on its hill, encircled by the remaining stations, VIII through XIV. It is a pilgrim's medal from Czestochowa, made to be prayed through as much as worn, so that someone far from the hill could still walk the fourteen stations in the palm of the hand.
The Way of the Cross medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
