The Vintage Bronze St. Joan of Arc Fleur-de-Lis Cross is a substantial piece with flared arms and a hammered, pitted surface that catches the light unevenly, the way beaten metal does. A fleur-de-lis stands in relief on each side arm, and at the crossing is a small figure in full plate armor with cropped hair, a sword held across the body, standing on a stepped plinth.
The armor, the cropped hair and the lilies of France name her together: Joan of Arc, the farm girl of Domremy who led the relief of Orleans in 1429 and was burned at Rouen two years later, at nineteen. Canonized in 1920, she is a patron of France and of soldiers, and a saint for anyone who has been told their conviction is above their station.
The cross was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
