The Vintage Bronze St. Charles Borromeo Rosary Center is worked on both faces. One gives the saint in profile, spare of feature and dressed in biretta and rochet, ringed by the legend CAR· BORROMEVS· CAR· ARC· MED· — Charles Borromeo, Cardinal Archbishop of Milan.
Borromeo reformed the church life of his city in the sixteenth century, founded seminaries and taught catechism to children, and when plague came to Milan he stayed to nurse the dying and bury the dead when he could have gone. The other face carries a coronet above the word HVMILITAS in gothic letters, with the three interlaced rings of the Borromeo arms below. Humilitas, humility, was the family motto, and he made it his own. A fitting center for anyone who prays for bishops, catechists and spiritual directors.
This rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the piece's vintage character.
