Product Details

The Vintage Bronze St. Anthony and the Child Medallion is a substantial piece. At the center, in a domed oval, a tonsured friar in a heavy habit holds a small child on his left arm, the child reaching toward him, and around that oval runs a wide pierced border of wirework loops, rosettes and round beads, three deep at the edge, in the manner of old filigree.

The friar and the Child are the long-established image of St. Anthony of Padua, the Franciscan preacher asked for the return of what has been lost and kept as patron of the poor. The Child in his arms comes from the story of a host who looked in and saw the room filled with light and Anthony holding the infant Christ. The openwork border keeps a medallion of real presence from wearing heavy, and each casting is hand-finished, so the beading takes the antiquing a little differently.

The medallion was faithfully reproduced from a seventeenth-century antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.

  • Made in the USA
  • Artisan-cast from an antique original
  • Finished by hand, so every piece is subtly unique.
  • Buy the medal alone, or add an optional chain or cord necklace
  • Add a cord or chain to have it arrive assembled and ready to wear
  • Arrives in a deluxe velour jewelry box
