The Saint Anthony of Padua Spanish Medal shows the saint in high relief on a cloud-shaped field, wearing the Franciscan habit with its knotted cincture, tonsured and haloed. He carries the Christ Child on his right arm while a flowering lily rises through his left hand, and the Child lifts a hand toward him.
Both attributes are his own: the lily for purity, and the Child who came to him while he prayed over the scriptures. The reverse is lettered in four lines of Spanish, SAN ANTONIO / ROGAD POR NOSOTROS, which is to say Saint Anthony, pray for us. He is the saint asked for help in finding what has been lost, whether a set of keys or something far weightier, and in Spanish-speaking households that short invocation was said as a matter of daily habit.
The Saint Anthony medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
