Almost the whole face of the Vintage Bronze Radiant Our Lady of Guadalupe Medal is given over to light. The rays are cut deep and separated all the way to the rim, so that the Virgin at the center stands inside a moving screen of flame rather than in front of a flat sunburst. Her head is bowed, her hands are joined, and beneath her feet a crescent moon is carried up by a small winged angel.
This is the image left on Juan Diego's tilma at Tepeyac in 1531: the bowed head, the joined hands, the mandorla of rays, the angel at the foot. Our Lady of Guadalupe is patroness of the Americas, and what she promised on that hill was to hear the weeping of the people and remedy their griefs. The deep piercing of the rays makes this a livelier version of the image than most, catching light from every angle.
The Our Lady of Guadalupe medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
