The Vintage Bronze Pax Peace Medal is the largest and most open-handed piece in this group. Five doves wheel across the front with olive sprigs in their beaks and stars scattered between them, all turning around the single word PAX at the centre. The relief is broad and shallow, so the face reads clearly at arm's length.
The reverse is the reason to own it. A lit torch crossed with an olive branch stands in the middle, and around it the word for peace is cast in more than a dozen tongues — PAZ, MIR, FRED, VREDE, PEACE, PACE, PAIX, FRIEDEN and others, in Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic and East Asian letters. The dove with the olive branch is Noah's, the first sign that the flood was over, and the medal reads as a prayer for the peace Christ leaves with his Church, offered for the whole world at once.
The Pax medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
