The Vintage Bronze Our Lady with Banners and Sacred Heart Medal pairs a beloved shrine image of the Virgin with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On the front Our Lady appears as a dressed statue in the Spanish manner: crowned, wrapped in a wide mantle falling straight to the ground, a staff in one hand and the Child standing at her side. Long banners hang on either side of her, their tassels and fringes picked out in fine relief, with votive figures and candles clustered at her feet.
The reverse belongs entirely to the Sacred Heart. Christ is shown haloed and bearded, one hand raised in blessing, the flaming heart crowned with thorns upon his breast, the devotion that asks love in return for love. The dressed shrine image on the front is the way Spanish and Latin American towns have honored the Virgin for generations, robing her, crowning her, and carrying her out under banners on her feast day.
The medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
