The Our Lady of Victory medal is pierced right through, so it reads as much by its silhouette as by its relief. Grape clusters, vine leaves and ears of wheat curl around the outside, and within the pointed oval at the center stands a crowned Virgin holding the crowned Child, her mantle flaring out below her.
Wheat and grapes together are Eucharistic shorthand, the bread and the wine growing around the Mother of God. Our Lady of Victory is Mary invoked as the one whose intercession turns a losing cause, a title carried home from Lepanto and bound ever since to the rosary. The back of the antique original was left plain as a shield and engraved by hand with a flowing dedication, the sort of thing added at a first communion or a name day.
The Our Lady of Victory medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
