The Vintage Bronze Our Lady of Trois-Epis Medal tells a story on one face and names the place on the other. In the scene a man kneels with his horse standing behind him, before a tree that carries a small shrine box, while a robed woman stands to the right in a burst of rays. It is the apparition remembered at Trois-Epis, where a blacksmith riding to market stopped at a wayside image of the Virgin and was given a message to carry back to his neighbors.
The reverse shows the hilltop village and its church rising above a rounded hill, three ears of wheat tied together above them, and below the words SOUVENIR DES TROIS EPIS, souvenir of Trois-Epis, in the Alsatian hills above Colmar. The three wheat ears are the emblem the Virgin held out as her sign of plenty, and they have given the village its name ever since.
This medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
