The Vintage Bronze Our Lady of Montaigu Sacred Heart Medal pairs two devotions without crowding either. One face carries the haloed bust of Christ, the right hand raised in blessing and the left indicating the Sacred Heart on his breast, modelled with an unusually gentle expression for so small a relief.
The other face shows a crowned Virgin and Child standing in the branches of a tree above a plinth, a pilgrim kneeling on either side and full-blown roses at the upper corners, with MONTAIGU cut into the base. Montaigu, called Scherpenheuvel in Dutch, is the hill in Brabant where a small image of the Virgin was venerated in an oak and grew into one of the great pilgrimages of the Low Countries, its basilica laid out as a seven-pointed star. The tree and the kneeling pilgrims tell that story directly, and the Sacred Heart on the other side answers it.
This medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
