The Vintage Bronze Art Nouveau St. Francis Blessing Cross is a large wearing cross with real presence. Francis stands full length at the crossing, haloed, in his habit with the knotted cincture and a rosary at his side, and flowering vine sprays run out along both arms in the Art Nouveau taste. Above his head is the Franciscan emblem, two arms crossed before a cross, one bare and one sleeved, the arm of Christ and the arm of Francis.
The reverse carries the Latin blessing, Benedicat tibi Dominus et custodiat te, may the Lord bless you and keep you, going on to ask that he show his face, have mercy, and give peace. These are the words of the Book of Numbers that Francis wrote out for Brother Leo, closed here by his Tau cross near the foot.
The blessing cross was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
