On the Vintage Bronze Art Nouveau Medal the frame does most of the talking. Tendrils curl away above and below in long asymmetric whiplash curves, one of them turning into a leaf, and they enclose a small round panel set almost off-center. Within it is the head of Christ in profile, long-haired and bearded, a plain halo behind him.
Those curves are Art Nouveau, the style of about 1900, when devotional metalwork briefly borrowed the vocabulary of the jewellers rather than the church furnishers. The result is a Holy Face that would sit comfortably beside secular jewellery of the same date without losing any of its seriousness. The profile is modelled with a lightness that matches the frame, and the antiquing settles into the tendrils so the relief stays crisp.
The Art Nouveau Head of Christ Medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
